Recently we traveled to Minnesota to see family. We arrived in town a little early so we stopped out at Bar La Grassa. They had no available tables and it was a full house, however Italian cuisine in the Midwest - Bar La Grassa Reviewthey did have 2 open seats at the bar area where they prepare the food. I feel this is one of the best seats in the house. You get to see the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and the food being made and sent out.

You are given free bread and dip. We asked the waiter what his favorite items were. He told us you couldn’t really go wrong with anything. They get their pasta flown in fresh from Italy as well as make their own pasta in house. We got an order of Scallops, it was their first day getting scallops in. They were delicious and I highly recommend them. Shayla ordered Strozzapreti with chard pork and pea shoots. The pasta came out fresh and hot. This pasta dish was one of their flown in pastas. Enjoyable to the last bite.

I ordered crab ravioli and to my surprise when it came out it was red and looked like spaghetti. When I asked the waiter about it he said it got entered in to the computer wrong and I received their Red wine spaghetti with pine nuts. He corrected my orded and told me I should try the Red wine spaghetti, as it was now a free dish for us. We tested it out, surprisingly it was very good. The pasta was cooked al dente, just how we like them. The taste of the wine gave the pasta a nice flavor. About 10 mins later my order came out and it was worth the wait. The sauce that the crab ravioli was in hit all the right taste buds. The ravioli was cooked to perfection and the crab filling was delicious. On a side note the next day when it was reheated it still tasted better than most restaurants serving hot meals right out of the kitchen.

They have an extensive wine list, which you would expect for an Italian restaurant, as well as a full bar. You can also order most of the entrees in half portions (which is what we did, and still took home leftovers). Over all, even with the mix up of my food, I would definitely go back again. 5 out 5 stars.
