For years we have been driving past the Pine Cone Restaurant and never stopped, until 3 weeks ago. At first look, you would not think that it could offer delicious treats baked fresh everyday. Pine Cone is attached to a gas station but don’t let that fool you; its worth your time to come in and see all the baked goods in glass cases. They have seating if you want to stay and dine, but you can also carry out or get baked goods directly from the glass case.

This time when we stopped at the Pine Cone we decided to try some of their food. The menu is huge a little too big for me, too many things to choose from. My meal came with a soup option. They had four to choose from. I went with chicken dumpling soup and it came out fast, hot and ready to eat, it had good flavor. For my main meal I got an 8oz sirloin steak medium rare with some French fries. The steak was cooked medium and came out hot. I think the steak could have been cooked with a little more seasoning added to it. Shayla ordered a hot roast beef sandwich that came with mashed potatoes. It’s an open faced sandwich covered in gravy. This was recommended by our server. It was delicious and hot out of the kitchen. Shayla’s meal also came with soup. She ordered a turkey and wild rice soup. It was piping hot, a thick soup, and a great combination of flavors.

The service was great and the food came out so quick I was was not even half done with my coffee. I like the atmosphere of this little place and the customer service was top notch. Our server stated she hadn’t been working there very long but she knew the menu very well, and checked on us often. I would go back again. We did also take some bakery goods to go :). They are hard to resist when you pay up front in front of the display case.

Parking is ample, but it is a busy gas station. $$ 4.5 out of 5 stars
