We went and visited family this weekend in the Twin Cities. We got into town early and stopped at Spoon and Stable in Minneapolis. It has good reviews online and we thought we would try it out. Unfortunately we could not find any street parking so we used the Valet parking the restaurant has. That costs $10. We had called ahead and they where booked for the night, we were stopping on a Friday night right at the dinner rush, but we decided to see if they would take walk ins. We got seating right away at the bar where you can have the full menu. The setup and decor of the building was pretty nice and had a good vibe. The restaurant itself was very busy. The bar service was good and checked in on us often. For my meal I ordered the spaghetti nero. This dish is prawns, mussels, octopus, fra diavolo, with fine herbs. The dish came out nice and hot and ready to eat. There were only two prawns in my meal and I was hoping it would have had more then two, there was a good amount of octopus and mussels though. I must say the highlight to the meal was the pasta itself. They were made just the way I like them, al dente. The restaurant makes the pasta in house. Overall, I thought the meal lacked flavor although I liked the noodles the most out of the whole dish. Shayla ordered the spice crusted duck breast. This meal came with grilled beets, Swiss chard, wild plum, and foie gras bordelaise. It was delicious. We don’t order or eat duck often
and we both really enjoyed it. We ordered Brussel sprouts as a side and those were cooked very well. Overall, I liked the building and the setup and I liked that you could see the open kitchen that was in the main eating area. It might have been nice to actually sit in the main dining area, but it was clearly packed. We would give this 4.5/5 stars, $$$, street parking or Valet $10. We would strongly recommend reservations.
